Certificate III in Horticulture (Wholesale Nursery) (RTF30603)
Duration: 52 weeks, (including 12 weeks breaks between terms).
Certificate IV in Horticulture (RTF40103)
Duration: 24 weeks (including 4 weeks breaks between terms).
The 24 weeks Cert IV in Horticulture can be studied, if the student so desires, without completing either of the Certificate III and Diploma of Horticulture or Wholesale Nursery.
Diploma in Horticulture RTF50103
Duration: 24 weeks (including 4 weeks breaks between terms).
The 24 weeks Diploma of Horticulture can be studied, if the student so desires, without completing either of the Certificate III and IV in Horticulture or Wholesale Nursery.
Advanced Diploma of Horticulture (AHC60210)
Duration: 52 weeks, (including 12 weeks breaks between terms).
The 52 weeks Advanced Diploma of Horticulture can be studied, if the student so desires, without completing either of the Certificate III, Certificate IV or Diploma of Horticulture or Wholesale Nursery.
The Course Components of Complete Advanced Diploma of Horticulture
First Year - Certificate III in Horticulture or Certificate III in Horticulture (Wholesale Nursery) includes classroom and practical training and assessment in nursery plants and their propagation, management of soil, irrigation, fertilisers, weeds, pests and diseases, handling of chemicals and occupational health and safety (OHS) etc.
Second Year - Certificate IV in Horticulture and Diploma of Horticulture includes classroom and practical training in management of the environment, staff, budget, farm machinery, irrigation, propagation, plant nutrition, harvesting, occupational health and safety (OHS) etc. It has been designed to meet the training needs of people with a keen interest in plants and the environment. The full time course aims at providing the participants with a comprehensive practical, technical and management training, to meet the needs of horticulture operators and managers. The course has been designed to enhance career and study pathways within the horticulture industry.
Third Year- Advanced Diploma of Horticulture provides competent candidates with the expertise to work at management and administration level in the horticulture industry. It builds on the existing knowledge and horticultural skills acquired at previous horticultural studies/work experience to design, administer and perform the role. New or intending owners of the Nursery/Garden, Landscape and tree service companies, and other horticultural businesses, who want to acquire knowledge and skills in designing and assessing technical, managerial and economical problems.
Entry Requirements
Entry requirements to all the above courses are Year 12 or overseas equivalent and an overall English proficiency IELTS band 5.5.
Course duration and fees
Cost of Text books (learning guides), stationery, writing materials: $440 for Cert III courses and Advanced Diploma courses, $220 for Cert IV course and Diploma course. Uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE), hand tools fee: $370.
